Spectra Sure w/IGR Flea Meds

I work on the website http://www.duboisdistributors.com/ they added new flea control products and I just bought some for Peanut & Bailey. Spectra Sure w/IGR has the same ingredients as Frontline Plus but is only about 1/2 the price! I looked online and a three pack for the same size of Fronline Plus sells for $40 - $46. I bought this at Dubois for $21.47 with free shipping. I'm so glad there is now a resonable flea control medicine that actually works. This protects against ticks as well which is a growing concern in our area. We do sometimes go for walks in the woods.
They also have a cat version. I will be buying that soon since all 3 of my cats go outside.

Peanut wins!

Peanut won 3 ribbons today at the Flyball tournament! The first ribbon was for Flyball dog 20 points. The second was for receiving 100 points for the title of Flyball dog excellent! The dogs earn points by how fast the team runs in each heat. If the team runs under 25 seconds each dog earns 25 points, 28 seconds each dog earns 5 points, 32 seconds each dog earns 1. Peanuts 3rd ribbon was for being a rescue dog, the judges picked a few of their favorite rescue dogs that ran. I was disappointed there weren't more rescue dogs there.

Fetch n Fly Flyball Tournament

Peanut and Big Peanut~ Both rescues they look so much alike!

Peanut was in her first official Flyball tournament this weekend in Henrietta. It was a small tournament but it was still loud enough for me! All those dogs in one place can get pretty crazy.

Finally off of Pred!

Peanut is finally off of Prednisone!! She has fully recovered from the steroid responsive small white dog shaking syndrome. She does still however have some of the side effects lingering from the steroids. We have three dogs total and Peanut has always been top dog. With the steroids she started resource guarding. Specifically guarding me and food. I had a trainer come to the house that I've worked with before and trust. One of the big changes we have to make is keeping Peanut off of the furniture and off of my lap. She also suggested a few exercises to practice with all of the dogs, only giving her bones in her crate, and increasing Peanut's exercise. Since summer has come early in Rochester I've been walking Peanut every single night. She is slowly improving but it is taking time.

Peanut on Prednazone

A rare moment of Peanut being quiet
Peanut was diagnosed with Steroid Responsive Small White Dog Shaking Syndrome on October 4th. Since then she has been taking steroids (Prednazone - hence steroid responsive). While the steroids have helped with the shaking, and she is no longer having seizures, they are having some side effects.

Peanut has always loved food but was never over weight. The steroids have caused her to be hungry all the time. Besides gaining weight she is now table surfing for anything she can her her chubby little paws on. While she has always been the dominant dog she is now having aggression issues when it comes to food, treats, and bones. She is not only guarding her own food but me if I'm eating, or the garbage can if it has food in it. Now Peanut is on 6 pills a day. Along with eating a lot she is drinking a ton, causing her to have accidents in the night. We have an appointment at Cornell on Friday to see if we can start weaning her off the steroids.
